Orientation
Program

"A good beginning is of great importance."

Catherine McAuley, letter to Frances Warde, 1840.

The Orientation program is for staff new to Mercy. It includes an introduction to the story of Catherine McAuley, the founding of the Sisters of Mercy, and the Australian and PNG story. It connects these stories with the contemporary exercise of Mercy ministry through the varied ministries and work of ISMAPNG. There is an opportunity for participants to make connections with Mercy values and the mission, vision and values statements of the ministries in which they are employed. The program also provides opportunities for participants to reflect on the skills, talents and gifts they bring to their ministry and the ways that they can embody mercy ethos and culture in the conduct of their everyday work.

The Orientation program is currently being offered on as needs basis, please contact Carole Gan (FLAME Coordinator) – carole.gan@ismapng.org.au for more information.

Delivering Orientation in your workplace

To ensure accessibility across the ministries of ISMAPNG the orientation program has also been designed to be delivered on site by line managers and supervisors. The “on-site” design format includes a comprehensive leader’s guide and participant workbook, resources and web based content. The Mercy Ethos Office can provide “train the trainer” support for ministries seeking to deliver the Orientation program in house.
